A case of death in police custody has come to light in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. The police had detained the person a day earlier after receiving a complaint in a case. According to the SP, he committed suicide by hanging himself in the toilet of the Kotwali complex. At present, the police have taken possession of the body and are busy in investigation. However, after the incident, heavy police and PAC force has been deployed near the post-mortem house and the house of the deceased.
In view of the suspicious circumstances, DM of Jaunpur has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the entire incident. The whole matter is of Shahganj Kotwali. On Friday, 35 thousand rupees belonging to a person named Jamil Ahmed had gone missing near Shahganj Roadways. After Jamil's complaint, the police caught Matru Bind, a resident of Barauna village, and took him to Shahganj police station and kept him in custody.
He allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Shahganj Kotwali premises. The news of death in police custody created a stir. As soon as the information was received, Superintendent of Police Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma and DM Dr. Dinesh Chandra Singh reached the police station and took information. The DM-SP has assured the family members of the deceased that an impartial investigation into the entire matter will be conducted as well as fair action will be taken.
Jaunpur Superintendent of Police Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma said that the deceased was detained on Friday in a case. On Saturday morning, he committed suicide by hanging himself in the toilet located in the Kotwali complex. The body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem. Based on the complaint of the deceased's wife, a case will be registered and necessary action will be taken.
Considering the story of Matru Bind's alleged suicide in police custody prima facie suspicious, Jaunpur District Magistrate Dr. Dinesh Chandra Singh has ordered a magisterial inquiry for an impartial investigation in the interest of justice. Deputy District Magistrate Shahganj has been nominated to investigate the entire matter. To maintain peace after the incident, a large number of police and PAC personnel have been deployed outside the post-mortem house Siddiqpur and near the house of the deceased.
After the incident, DM-SP of Jaunpur met the family members of the deceased and assured them of all possible justice and help. The DM told the deceased's wife that the responsibility of their daughter is the responsibility of the district administration. They will be given justice through a magisterial inquiry.
After the incident, Jaunpur District Magistrate ordered a magisterial inquiry. As per the order, Matru Bind hanged himself in the toilet of the police station. According to the DM, the toilet and bathroom of the complex are the same and the person has hanged himself there.
