Princess Anne attends rare horse riding performance at London's Wembley Arena

The Princess Royal attended a performance by the world's oldest riding academy on October 18, as the academy toured the UK for the first time in almost a decade.

The attendance comes just months after with a minor head injury and concussion thought to be caused by a horse-related incident.

At the event held at OVO Arena Wembley, in London, Anne was treated to routines set to classical Viennese music by eight riders and up to 26 horses from the Spanish Riding School.

Watching from the royal box, White Lipizzaner horses performed choreographies of All The Steps And Movements Of The High School, On The Long Rein and School Quadrille.

The academy is set to perform at Wembley again on October 19 and 20 before heading to Aberdeen's P&J Live for three shows on October 25, 26 and 27, marking its first time performing in Scotland.

Princess Anne is fond of horses and competed for Great Britain in Canada.

Unfortunately, the Princess spent five nights in hospital and suffered concussion and mild head injuries after reportedly being struck by a horse while out walking on her Gatcombe Park estate in June.

The Princess missed several engagements after the incident, but later in the summer, jetted to Paris to support athletes in the 2024 Olympics.

Host of the show, Nicki Chapman, told the : "Hosting the opening night of the prestigious Spanish Riding School tour, with The Princess Royal in attendance, was an absolute honour."

They added: "It's been eight years since the Lipizzaner horses and their incredibly talented riders last visited the UK, and sharing the magic with both the Princess Royal and the British public made the evening all the more unforgettable."

On its , the Spanish Riding School in Vienna states it is the only institution in the world which has "practiced for more than 450 years".

It states the famous "Ballet of the White Stallions" will be performing in Scotland for the very first time in its 459-year history and will make its debut in Aberdeen on October 25.
