Surbhi Chandna and Karan Sharma got married on March 2 this year. They exchanged their wedding vows after dating for nearly 13 years. Today, October 20, Surbhi will be observing Karwa Chauth for the first time. In this festival, women observe a fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands. Times Now/ Telly Talk India got into an exclusive conversation with Surbhi Chandna where she spoke about her plans for Karwa Chauth in detail.Excerpts from the conversation:How does it feel to celebrate your first Karwa Chauth as a married woman? Do you follow any particular traditions? It's our very first Karwa Chauth, and Karan and I are filled with excitement. This festival is a meaningful time for us to come together as a couple and with our families. Our preparations have been nothing short of a magical journey, from carefully choosing the perfect attire to savouring our sargi. For my very first sargi, Karan added a nutritious and wholesome touch by preparing a delicious Multigrain Oats Chilla, a flavourful dish and Multigrain Oats Kheer, a sweet delight using Quaker Oats Multigrain, ensuring lasting energy to embrace the day-long fast. We're eagerly looking forward to celebrating this together and extend our heartfelt wishes that this Karwa Chauth envelops everyone in love, joy, and lasting fulfillment.

Will you be fasting since morning, or is this your first time doing the full fast? What’s the most special part of Karwa Chauth for you?Yes, Karwa Chauth is going to be an extra special occasion for me because it's my first time observing it. To be honest, I'm still getting the hang of all the rituals involved! I've learned that it starts with the early morning Sargi ritual, which means waking up before dawn and fasting throughout the day. In the evening, there are more ceremonies and traditions, and I'm still in the process of figuring out all the details and what exactly will happen. It's a new and exciting experience for me.Also Read: How does Karan feel about you observing this fast for him? Many husbands also fast along with their wives. Did you tease Karan to do it with you too?Karan will be fasting with me this year, which I’m very excited about. Did you follow any special rituals or customs today that are part of your family’s tradition? My husband has made it incredibly special, going out of his way to make sure I feel celebrated. I’m still getting the hang of all the traditions, but I thoroughly enjoyed everything, especially getting mehndi done. It was lovely to see everyone coming together as a family, sharing stories and laughter. That’s what festivals are all about—celebrating love, connection, and togetherness.

What’s the first thing you plan to eat after breaking your fast? Are there any special Karwa Chauth recipe or food that you’re craving? To break my fast, I kept it simple with some fruits and nuts, along with a glass of Sabja water and a few dates. It was a lovely way to celebrate the moment with Karan, and just being together made it truly special. My go-to comfort meal is definitely kheer. It’s sweet, creamy, and always reminds me of home. During fasting times, I often crave something nutritious that still has that traditional taste. This year, Karan made Multigrain Oats Chilla, a flavourful dish and Multigrain Oats Kheer, a sweet delight using Quaker Oats Multigrain for me, which really kept me going through the day. Also Read: Have you prepared a special outfit or jewelry for the day?Since it’s my first Karwa Chauth I’ll be wearing something red. It feels special and vibrant, perfect for celebrating the occasion. What are your hopes and wishes for your marriage as you observe this day for the first time?My hopes for our marriage are really simple—I just want us to keep growing, supporting, and cherishing each other, just like we have from the beginning. Karan and I met back in 2010 at his birthday party, and we clicked instantly. There was something there right from the start, and after that, Karan actually found me on Facebook. We ended up going on our first coffee date, and what started as a simple friendship just grew stronger over time. As we spent more time together, we realised we were more than just friends. After dating for several years, we knew it was time to take the next step and get married. Looking back, it's been such an amazing journey filled with laughter, and so many special memories. I'm grateful for every moment that led us to where we are now.

Marriage has really enriched my personal growth and lifestyle in so many positive ways. It has created a wonderful partnership that encourages me to try new things and explore new interests with Karan. We’ve discovered hobbies we both enjoy, making our time together even more special. Having Karan by my side brings a sense of stability and happiness to my life. His support motivates me to chase my goals, and I feel more confident knowing we’re in this together. Our shared routines and traditions add a lovely rhythm to our lives. Whether we’re cooking together or planning little adventures, every moment feels joyful and full of connection. Overall, marriage has made my life more meaningful and fulfilling and I cherish every day we spend together.
