  • To foster self-reliance among inmates, Berhampur Circle Jail in Odisha has initiated a skill upgrade training program aimed at helping them reintegrate into society successfully after their release. Each batch will consist of 20 male prisoners participating in a two-month course. D N Barik, the senior superintendent of Berhampur Circle Jail, stated that upon completing the course, inmates will have the opportunity to take an examination to earn a trained weaver certificate.
  • Approximately 1.50 lakh health and wellness centres are being established nationwide, aimed at the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, announced Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday. The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, who is also a distinguished diabetologist, unveiled data to Jammu from the “first of its kind” survey—the world’s largest study on diabetes, known as the ‘ICMR-India Diabetes (INDIAB) Study.’ This initiative seeks to evaluate the prevalence of diabetes across the country.
