In a nation renowned for its inventive and delectable street cuisine, a Kolkata vendor has gone all out with their culinary experiments. A seller is shown in a recent internet video cooking what he refers to as a “cold drink omelette,” using Fanta for conventional oil to fry the eggs. This odd meal is garnished with chopped tomatoes, onions, green chilies, and coriander. It has six cracked eggs blended into the fizzy drink. The merchant proudly displayed his work, but it also generated a range of responses on social media.

In the first scene of the video, the seller dumps a whole bottle of cold beverage into a heated skillet and then cracks eggs into the seething liquid. He finishes his colorful but unusual recipe by incorporating the chopped veggies after adding salt and properly mixing. The finished dish is then served on a leaf, and in the Instagram post that goes with the video, it is titled “Most unique Cold Drinks Omelette of Kolkata.”

People on social media had a lot to say. “I was trying to trust the process, but what the hell, man?” said a shocked spectator. Enjoy your supper, for it could be your last, said one person, while another said, “You will get cancer before you eat it.” Funny recommendations were also made for the strange mixture. One individual joked, “If you don’t want to eat anymore, just watch these videos.” Some viewers expressed curiosity despite the negative reaction, with one commenting, “Bro, that s**t looks fire, besides the soda NGL.”

Another user made the amusing remark, “Acha hua Angrez chale gaye India chod kar,” in reference to India’s colonial history. No, you can’t commit suicide by yourself. The British should be grateful for leaving India. Had they not seen this, they would have ended their own lives.)

In India, soft drinks have long been used as a means of cooking eggs. A Surat street seller earlier gained notoriety for a meal he named “Fanta Fry,” in which he made an omelette with three eggs, added cooked eggs, and served the peculiar concoction with bread. Remarkably, the merchant said that the meal was created as a result of popular demand.
