But Dutt did complete justice to it. Lawrence also agreed that it was good that Aamir did not play the role of Aman. What Sanju did with Aman, Aamir could not have done.
However, director Lawrence D'Souza had already realized that 'Saajan' would be a hit. Before the release of 'Saajan', three trial shows were held in Mumbai. Lawrence arrived in one of these. There he saw that people were clapping and whistling on every scene and song of the film. Money is being wasted. It was from here that he realized that the picture was going to be a big hit, and it happened further.
'Saajan' became the biggest film of 1991. The Hindi film, made with a budget of Rs 4 crore, did a business of more than Rs 18 crore. It remained in theaters for 75 weeks.
