and rumoured location of their new Portuguese villa has been swiftly denied - because their neighbours "wouldn't like living near them".

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have purchased a new home on the coast of the European country, with previous reports claiming it was situated in the luxury CostaTerra resort in Comporta.

It was claimed that the couple bought the villa after briefly staying with Harry's cousin, , whose husband, Jack Brooksbanks, has a job at the exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club.

But a source has claimed to The Times that the Sussexes haven't bought a property within the CostaTerra and said their prospective neighbours wouldn't "like" them living nearby.

The source said: "Everything is kept very tight here, but even so, we would have been made aware of the Sussexes if the story was accurate."

They added: "Tom Holland, the actor, has a house here, and there are some Gulf Arab sheikhs. I don't think they would like the Sussexes as neighbours - it would cause too much publicity."

It was reported earlier this month that the properties on the resort had been designed by , a high-end architecture firm. The site, situated on a beach in the Algarve, is a popular destination for the wealthy.

The CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club is owned by Mike Meldman, a property tycoon who founded Casamigos tequila with George Clooney and Rande Gerber, the husband of model Cindy Crawford.

Jack Brooksbanks works for the tycoon's Discovery Land Company, which has been developing a 722-acre plot that will eventually offer 300 homes with a starting price tag of £3.6million.

However, Comporta locals have also shared their frustration that the coastline has been impacted by rich property owners. New regulations in Portugal mean that councils and agencies can make specific beaches private.

It reportedly led to the closure of a number of much-loved spots in the Algarve. Local resident Bradley McGuiness said it was the "worst thing" to happen to the Portuguese coast.

Meanwhile, Andre Andrade added: "I am very upset by this massive piece of Portuguese land destroyed for the rich, removed from the average local that had been creating memories in this place for generations and generations."

, Jack, and their two children, August and Ernest, have a holiday property on-site, which offers views of the Atlantic Ocean. It has also been reported that the family has access to a golf course, spa, and equestrian centre.
