Liam Payne 'had multiple drugs in system' at time of death including 'class A' substance

Reports have emerged that an autopsy revealed drugs in 's system at the time of his death.

ABC News reports that Liam had a mix of substances in his system before falling from the balcony of his hotel room on the third floor.

A preliminary autopsy indicates the presence of crack cocaine, cocaine and a street drug typically comprising various narcotics.

The ex-One Direction star tragically died on Wednesday, October 16, while holidaying in Palermo, a district of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In a heartfelt homage, Liam Payne's sister Nicola expressed her wish that her brother has found peace following his devastating demise, reports .

Due to complications with his visa prior to his untimely death, Liam's body is currently held in Argentina. The former pop sensation had travelled there to attend Niall Horan's sell-out concert but faced issues with his US visa application.

It is reported that he was attempting to renew it while in Buenos Aires.

Liam's dad Geoff is in Argentina to speed up the repatriation of his body but is understood to have been told he will not be able to fly it back to the UK until the 31-year-old's death is confirmed "scientifically".

No time frame has been given but he has been warned the wait could be up to two weeks.

The tragedy at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires took a grim turn with employees being grilled by authorities amid allegations they smuggled drugs to Liam using a Dove soap box, reports the Daily Mail.

A cleaner and another staff member are under suspicion of supplying various illicit substances.

Liam's room was a scene of disarray when police arrived, finding a smashed television, white powder traces, and aluminium foil.

Police tests on the white powder found in his hotel room have so far proved "inconclusive". Argentinian news outlet InfoBae reported the results of a second test using chromatography, a powerful analytical separation technique, on that powder were pending.

Payne was part of the globally adored boy band One Direction, which also featured Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles.

The group was famously assembled on the hit reality TV show back in 2010 by music moguls Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger.
