Telangana: Farmer tries to take crop loan, finds Rs 20 Lac borrowed using his identity

Hyderabad: A farmer from Jagtial who recently wanted to secure a crop loan was shocked to know that another person had taken loans from seven banks amounting to Rs 20 lakh, fraudulently on the victim’s name.

After approaching the local police, cyber crime sleuths, Munjala Narayana, a farmer from Madnur village of Buggaram mandal in Jagtial district has finally lodged a complaint with the district collector on Monday, after he found that even the cyber crime police was not responsive to his plea.

Narayana told media that when he had gone to borrow money from Canara Bank in Buggaram recently, the bank officials had informed him that his Cybil score was too low, and that he already had a debt amounting to Rs 20 lakh on his head. He was sent back by the bank officials who refused to lend him.

Upon checking the Cybil score and after a few phone calls to the agency, Narayana got to know that the unknown cyber criminal had used his name, his father’s name and his date of birth from his aadhar card, to secure loans through credit cards and personal finance from seven banks in Hyderabad, including SBI, Kotak Mahindra, IDFC, and HDFC.

“When we checked the documents the loanee had submitted to these banks, it was my aadhar card by changing the photo and address, and using another PAN card. When the cyber crime police couldn’t help me, I was left with nothing but to approach the collector,” Narayana told the media.
