On Monday evening, Dr. Lokesh M, the CEO of the Noida Authority, issued decisions pertaining to the long-standing requests of farmers from 81 villages in Noida. He revealed that a number of ideas pertaining to farmer remuneration will be put forth for approval at the next board meeting during a meeting with Bharatiya Kisan Union leaders. The main concerns about the authority’s obligation to compensate farmers are intended to be addressed by these ideas.

Reclaiming 10% of the compensation previously given to farmers who have already received the full 100% is one significant ruling. The authority’s account will be refunded with this amount. The farmers will get 5% of the improved land in exchange.

At a cost of Rs 22,000 per square meter, the farmers would also get the remaining 5% compensation. Since this procedure is not covered by the Noida Authority’s present regulations, a new clause is being added to account for this development.

The additional 5% would be given to farmers who have previously received 5% of developed land but have won court orders for further compensation, at the same cost of Rs 22,000 per square meter. This proposal is currently in the process of being drafted and will be presented at the next board meeting.

In addition, OSD-level officials have been assigned the responsibility of surveying every village in order to determine the number of farmers. The Land Records Department’s OSD Arvind Singh will start conducting surveys on Tuesday, beginning with the villages of Bandauli and Gejha.

The ‘Anti-Farmer’ stance of the authorities is still being protested.

Sukhveer Khalifa, national president of the Bharatiya Kisan Parishad, said that farmers have been fighting for years to get the advantages they are entitled to from the Noida Authority and asked the authority to act quickly to provide them their long-awaited rights.

On Monday, the Bharatiya Kisan Union Forum persisted in their demonstration outside the Noida Authority headquarters. Suraj Pradhan presided over a Kisan Panchayat, which Rinku Yadav led. ACP Praveen Kumar Singh spoke with the farmers about their issues at the occasion.

Sudhir Chauhan, the Nationa President of the Union, criticized the authority’s strategy, labeling it “anti-farmer.” He cautioned that the farmers would not be appeased by empty promises this time and would keep protesting until their demands were fulfilled. Ashok Chauhan, the National Media Incharge, went on to say that the Authority will not let up this time until farmers’ rights are protected.
