Jemimah Rodrigues Controversy: Shiv Malhotra claimed that the “privilege” was “misused” by the star batter’s father by using her membership to reserve the presidential hall after the Khar Gymkhana cancelled the membership of Indian women’s cricket star Jemimah Rodrigues, a member of the managing committee of one of Mumbai’s oldest cricket clubs.

It has been claimed that Jemimah Rodrigues’ membership with Khar Gymkhana in Mumbai has been revoked. This decision was taken during the club’s annual general body meeting on October 22, according to The Indian Express.

The move comes after members complained that Ivan Rodrigues, Jemimah’s father, had utilized the club’s space for illegal religious activities, allegedly converting vulnerable people.

In an explanation of the membership cancellation, a Khar Gymkhana representative said that the severe decision was brought about by Jemimah Rodrigues’ father’s abuse of the club’s amenities, stressing that the measure was required to rectify the privilege abuse.

Malhotra drew attention to the fact that any religious meetings or activities are forbidden on the grounds of Khar Gymkhana, as stated in Rule 4A of the club’s bylaws.

“That is not a problem at all. She received the membership.Her father booked the presidential hall using her membership, abusing the privilege. Our members were not receiving the space for the one and a half-year booking.It is a problem to abuse such privilege. Malhotra informed ANI.

Former Gymkhana president Nitin Gadekar had already said that a staff member had tipped him off about the dubious religious gathering.

Malhotra and I went to watch it with a few of other members. We saw that trance music was playing, the room was dark, and a woman was stating, “He is coming to save us.” How Gymkhana could have permitted this in the first place shocked me. After our objection, the decision was made to terminate her membership, Gadekar said.

Rodrigues was accepted as a member of Khar Gymkhana in 2023, and she was given access to its amenities. The 24-year-old is a vital member of India’s women’s cricket squad and has performed well in all forms. With more than 100 matches under his belt, Rodrigues has an outstanding T20I record. He was also instrumental in India’s run to the 2020 T20 World Cup final.
