Joginder Sharma Birthday: Every Indian player dreams of winning the World Cup for Team India. This year, India won the T20 World Cup title after a wait of 17 years. Earlier, India had won this trophy in the year 2007. Then a young Indian team under the captaincy of MS Dhoni had achieved this feat. Joginder Sharma was also included in that team. Joginder Sharma has turned 41 today i.e. on 23rd October. He was born in 1983 in Rohtak district of Haryana. Joginder Sharma is the same player who bowled the last over of the final match of T20 World Cup 2007 and led Team India to victory.

One over made Joginder Sharma a hero

Joginder Sharma's international career started in the year 2004. But his career was full of ups and downs. He rarely got a chance to play cricket for the country. The international careers of both Dhoni and Joginder started on the same day. Both of them made their debut against Bangladesh in the year 2004. But after this series he could not make his place for 3 years. After this, he returned to Team India in the year 2007 and also managed to make his place in the T20 World Cup 2007.

Joginder Sharma made his debut in T20 during the T20 World Cup 2007. He got to play a total of 4 matches in this tournament, which also includes the final match played against Pakistan. He took 2 wickets for 37 runs in three overs against Australia in the semi-finals. After which, in the final match against Pakistan, Dhoni gave Joginder a big responsibility and gave him a chance to bowl the last over of the match. This over itself made him famous all over India.

Gave victory to India against Pakistan

Joginder Sharma led Team India to victory by defending 13 runs in the last over of the final match. He broke Pakistan's hopes of winning the World Cup by dismissing Misbah-ul-Haq on the fourth ball of the over. This over changed his life. Joginder Sharma was being talked about everywhere in India, but the surprising thing is that after this match, he did not get a chance to play for Team India again.

Life changed due to car accident

Joginder Sharma continued playing domestic cricket after not getting a place in Team India. But in the year 2011, Joginder Sharma had an accident. The accident took place in West Delhi when his car collided with a call centre. He suffered a serious head injury in this accident and was in the ICU for a long time. He returned to the field after being bedridden for a long time. But after this he took a big decision and left cricket and became a policeman. Actually, after winning the T20 World Cup, the Haryana government appointed Joginder Sharma to the post of DSP in Haryana Police. He is currently serving the country as DSP.

Joginder has played only 4 ODIs and 4 T20 matches for India. He took 5 wickets in these matches. Whereas, Joginder used to play for Haryana in domestic cricket. He played 77 first class matches in his domestic career and took 297 wickets with 2804 runs. He also has 1040 runs and 115 wickets in his name in 80 List A matches.
