Within a week of its premiere, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt’s most recent film, Jigra, turned into her biggest disaster.

The film, which was produced on a ₹90 crores budget and released on October 11, had trouble drawing viewers.

Jigra’s earnings were dismal, as it only brought in ₹27 crores in India and ₹44 crores globally.

Vasan Bala, the film’s director, acknowledged the reasons behind the film’s box office failure and accepted full responsibility for it. Though he couldn’t live up to their expectations, he acknowledged that producer Karan Johar and actress Alia Bhatt trusted him.

Bala stressed that it is the responsibility of filmmakers to produce engaging material that draws audiences into theaters.

Choosing to participate in Jigra demonstrated a great deal of faith, and Alia Bhatt is currently a popular choice for many.

Given her dedication, Vasan Bala said it was his duty to make sure the movie made money. The director acknowledged that there was a problem and that people should not watch Jigra in theaters.

He thinks that when an actor decides to embark on a project, directors should make the most of their time.

Jigra is the narrative of a brave sister who battles to save her brother from an overseas prison.

The sibling is facing execution, and Alia Bhatt’s character will stop at nothing to save him.

Even having a compelling plot and a strong performance from Bhatt, Jigra did not strike a chord with audiences.

Now, Vasan Bala is considering what went wrong and what led to the negative reviews for the film.

Jigra’s underwhelming performance has spurred conversations about the issues that filmmakers should engage audience.
