My Name Is Jaan: A musical play will be held on the life of the country's first crorepati singer Gauhar Jaan, note the date.

India has had many great singers. With changing times, the world of singing has also seen many changes. But there was one superstar singer whose melodious voice was captured on a recording tape for the first time. India's first recorded song was released in 1902 and this voice belonged to none other than superstar singer Gauhar Jaan.

The 'My Name Is Jaan' musical play will be held at Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir, Mumbai on 25 and 27 October 2024. The play will start at 7.30 pm on 25 October. The time has been set for 6.30 pm on 27 October. Tickets for this musical play are available on Book My Show.

This is a global premiere theatre tour, which will present Gauhar Jaan's extraordinary story in Indian music and recording history to everyone. Arpita Chatterjee will bring Gauhar Jaan's journey to the audience through her art. Arpita Chatterjee is a versatile performer, she is adept at everything from acting to classical dance. Not only this, Arpita is also a classically trained singer. She is a big name in Indian performing arts.

Arpita Chatterjee first gained fame after winning the famous 'Sananda Tilottama' beauty pageant in Eastern India in 1997. With a career spanning over two decades, Arpita has shown her acting prowess in more than 50 films in Bengali, Hindi, Bhojpuri, and Oriya cinema, making her a top choice to play the legendary Gauhar Jaan. She has mastered classical singing from Ustad Rashid Khan.

Gauhar Jaan was born in 1873. In Benares, her mother made the bold choice of starting afresh and sending Gauhar into the world of classical music and dance. Gauhar received classical training from the great masters of her time. She learned Kathak under Bindadin Maharaj and also received training in Khayal from Bhaiya Ganpat Rao. She learnt Drupad from Shrijan Bai. Not only this, Gauhar mastered Kirtan from Shri Ramesh Chandra Das.

This musical play is not just a tribute to Gauhar Jaan, but through this, the struggles of her personal life will also be presented to everyone. Everything will be shown, from her failed relationships to her financial phase. This play will show her story of how she became an iconic figure by facing all the difficulties in life.
