In addition to being a fantastic physical and cerebral exercise, pickleball is very popular because it appeals to individuals of all ages and skill levels, according to Australian pickleball star Sarah Burr. Burr is in India as part of the PWR DUPR India Masters, a PWR700 competition that will begin in New Delhi on October 24.

Following the PWR World Tour’s successful July premiere in Dubai this year, it will be the first event in India to be owned and run by the Pickleball World Rankings.

Leading international players, including Dustin Boyer and Phuc Huynh from the United States, Roos Van Reek from the Netherlands, Mitch Hargreaves and Emilia Schmidt from Australia, Pei Chuan Kao from Chinese Taipei, and top Indian players like Armaan Bhatia and Aditya Ruhela, are among the competitors.

“I adore it. All ages and skill levels may participate. It’s excellent for your emotional and physical well-being,” Burr said in an interview with Times Now.

Burr acknowledged the parallels between pickleball and other sports, including table tennis, badminton, and tennis. Tennis, badminton, and table tennis all need hand-eye coordination, but pickleball has some unique and intriguing regulations. In addition to physical obstacles, there are several ways and approaches, and the paths are varied.

Burr said that the Around the Post shot, or ATP shot, is her favorite shot in the sport when asked. Notably, the player smashes the ball around the net post onto the opponent’s court, making it a legal shot in contrast to many other racquet sports.

Making sure the ball falls so far away from the opponent that they are unable to return it is the shot’s main goal.

Notably, pickleball gained popularity in the US five years ago during the COVID-19 outbreak as a recreational exercise. In order to become a professional sport, it has undergone significant growth since then.

When asked about the social component of it, Burr said, “My whole family is participating, including my parents, grandparents, spouse, and kids. In addition to encouraging us to converse and communicate more, sports allow us to celebrate significant victories. The sport is very social.

Players will get up to 700 ranking points at the India Masters, which are good for 52 weeks.
