Indian Railways plans to launch the longest train in the country, the Vande Bharat Express, as part of the growing network of high-speed trains in the country as Diwali and Chhath Puja draw near. This ambitious line, which is scheduled to open in time for the holiday season, would link Delhi and Patna, the capital of Bihar.

This will be the longest Vande Bharat Express in India, spanning over 994 kilometers and providing travelers with a quick, cozy, and opulent way to travel across many states. The new Vande Bharat Express takes 11 hours and 35 minutes to go from New Delhi to Patna. The New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Tejas Rajdhani travels the same distance in 11 hours and 30 minutes, but other trains, such as the Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, take 11 hours and 55 minutes.

The Vande Bharat Express, which connects Patna and Delhi, is opening at a pivotal moment. Travelers return to their hometowns in significant numbers around Diwali and Chhath Puja, particularly from Delhi, which is home to a sizable Bihari population. Historically, trains and airplanes are under a great deal of strain around this time, with reservations being made months in advance and costs skyrocketing. By increasing capacity and providing a faster trip, the new Vande Bharat Express will lessen the strain of travel.

The Vande Bharat Express route between Delhi and Varanasi used to be the longest, covering 771 kilometers.
