Although he was unable to see his team’s 2022 T20 World Cup match against Pakistan, former India T20I captain Rohit Sharma agreed that Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya’s combination helped India win the match. Rohit expressed his feelings on the game, which had thousands of spectators in the stadium and throughout the globe riveted.

India found it difficult to match Pakistan’s score of 159 in a high-pressure scenario. Nerves were running high and the team was in a vulnerable situation as wickets were dropping.

In two consecutive T20 World Cups, it seemed like Pakistan would defeat India, but Kohli and Pandya’s remarkable partnership turned the tide in India’s favor.

“We were having problems. I couldn’t watch it live because I’m a very anxious person, but the partnership between Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli made the game exciting. During the 2024 T20 World Cup in June, Rohit told ICC, “I came out in the final overs and enjoyed the match.”

Pakistan scored a good 159/8 in their 20 overs with half-centuries from Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed, who batted first. India was down to 31/4 in the chase, and things weren’t looking good for them.

Before Pandya was removed on the first ball of the last over, India had reached 144 after he and Kohli had shared 113 runs for the fifth wicket. After he and Dinesh Karthik scored 14 runs, Kohli was once again under duress and was bowled out.

The equation came down to one off one when Mohammad Nawaz delivered a wide to Ravichandran Ashwin, requiring two runs off the last delivery. As India pulled off an unthinkable robbery, Ashwin took a single off the last ball.
