The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named seven candidates for the UP bypolls. Among the notable names was that of Anujesh Yadav who has been pitted against UP's 'Yadav family' scion Tej Pratap Singh Yadav in Karhal. Tej Pratap Singh Yadav is Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav's relative and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's son-in-law. Tej Pratap is also a former MP from Mainpuri.
Notably, Anujesh is also a member of the 'Yadav clan' of UP. However, he switched to the BJP along with his wife Sandhya in 2021.
