Those who were embraced in the Lok Sabha were ignored in the by-elections, used and thrown in the name of alliance?

In politics, no one is related to anyone, everyone decides to make friends and enemies by multiplying their political profits and losses. In such a situation, he did not refrain from embracing those with whom he saw an advantage in the Lok Sabha elections, but he distanced himself from them in the by-elections. The same pattern is visible in the by-elections being held from UP to Rajasthan that instead of trusting their partner parties, big parties have come out to fight the electoral battle on their own.

In Rajasthan, Congress had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in alliance with BAP and RLP, but in the by-elections, Congress has parted ways with both the allies. Similarly, in UP, SP had fought the 2024 elections in alliance with Congress, but Congress remained empty handed in the by-elections. In UP, BJP has also sidelined Nishad Party. In 2022, BJP itself is contesting the Majhwan seat won by Nishad Party. Similarly, in Bihar, RJD has not given even a single seat to its ally Congress.

BJP-SP distanced themselves from allies

By-elections are being held on 9 assembly seats of UP, in which the main contest is between BJP and SP. Out of 9 seats in the state, BJP itself is contesting 8 seats and has left one seat Meerapur for its ally RLD. Nishad Party was demanding two seats Majhwan and Katehri on the basis of 2022, while RLD was claiming Meerapur and Khair seats. BJP gave Meerapur seat to RLD, but did not give even a single seat to Nishad Party. Even Majhwan seat was not found, where there was an MLA from Nishad Party.

SP-Congress together in UP by-elections

At the same time, Congress and SP had jointly contested the Lok Sabha elections under the India Alliance. Congress wants to contest elections on five seats in UP, which were held by BJP and its allies. SP wanted to give only Khair and Ghaziabad seats to Congress. In terms of political equation, both these seats are considered strong for BJP and weak for the opposition. In such a situation, Congress withdrew its steps from contesting elections on both the seats while SP announced to contest elections on all 9 seats.

BJP and SP have confidence in themselves

The by-elections of UP are being considered as the semi-finals of the 2027 assembly elections. This is the reason why both the major parties BJP and SP are relying more on themselves rather than on their respective allies. That is why by not giving seats to Congress in the by-elections, SP itself has come out to fight BJP. Similarly, BJP is fighting on its own election symbol instead of Nishad Party or other allies. BJP has fielded its candidates on 8 seats while RLD will contest on one seat. BJP and SP have learned this from the 2024 Lok Sabha election results, they feel that if they contest on their respective election symbols then victory is certain, but if they contest elections on any ally, then victory is not guaranteed.

Congress distanced itself from its ally in Rajasthan

By-elections are being held on seven assembly seats of Rajasthan and Congress has fielded its candidates on all the seats. In the Lok Sabha elections, Congress contested the elections in alliance with Hanuman Beniwal's RLP and Rajkumar Roat's BAP. Congress also got the political benefit of the alliance, but still it has distanced itself from BAP and RLP in the by-elections. Of the seven seats in Rajasthan where by-elections are being held, 4 seats have become vacant due to Congress quota and one has become vacant due to the death of a BJP MLA.

Congress's separation from allies

Eighty-four seats are vacant due to BAP chief Rajkumar Roat being elected as Lok Sabha MP, while by-elections are being held on Khinvsar assembly seat due to RLP chief Hanuman Beniwal becoming MP. After Congress has fielded candidates on all seven seats, Beniwal has said that now he will announce the name of his candidate. BAP has already fielded its candidates on two seats. Even though Congress has distanced itself from its allies, now the contest is direct with BJP on four seats and it has become a triangular fight on three seats.

Congress did not get a single seat in Bihar

By-elections are being held on four assembly seats of Bihar. Under the India alliance, RJD, Congress, Left parties and VIP had contested the Lok Sabha elections together, but now only RJD and Left are trying their luck in the by-elections. RJD is contesting from three out of four seats, Ramgarh, Belaganj and Imamganj, while CPI (ML) is contesting from Tarari seat. Congress and VIP have not got even a single seat. Congress wanted to contest the by-election on one seat in Bihar, for which it was asking for Imamganj seat. RJD has ignored the demand of Congress. In this way RJD distanced itself from Congress and decided to try its luck on its own.
