Cyclone 'Dana', which originated from the Bay of Bengal, has hit the coast of Odisha. At present it is raining heavily in Odisha and West Bengal. Strong winds are blowing. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the landfall of 'Dana' is likely to continue till Friday morning. IMD said the storm moved north-northwest at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour in the last six hours and then reached between Bhitarkanika in Kendrapara district and Dhamra in Bhadrak district. During this period the wind speed was about 120 kilometers per hour.

After the arrival of 'Dana', strong winds and heavy rains are continuing in many areas of Odisha. Due to this, trees have been uprooted in many areas. The roads have also been damaged. The effect of 'Dana' is also being seen in West Bengal. It is raining heavily here with strong winds. When cyclone 'Dana' hit the coast of Odisha on Friday morning, its speed was 120 kilometers per hour.

'Dana' moving at a speed of 10 km per hour

The Meteorological Department said that cyclonic storm 'Dana' is moving towards north-northwest at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour. Today i.e. Friday morning at around 5.30 am it made landfall in the northern coastal region of Odisha. It was centered about 20 km north-northwest of Dhamra in Bhadrak district and 40 km north-northwest of Habalikhati Nature Camp (Bhitarkanika).

Next 24 hours are very important

The Meteorological Department said that the process of landslides due to cyclone 'Dana' is going on. The rear part of the cyclone is entering the land. The landslide process will continue for the next 1-2 hours. It is likely to move west-northwestwards in North Odisha. By today morning it will gradually weaken and turn into a cyclonic storm. At this time, high waves are rising. Due to this, water can reach up to two-three kilometers in the coastal areas. It has been advised to take extra security for the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, in view of the possible threat of cyclone 'Dana', West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the state government control room in Howrah late on Thursday night. She remained in the control room the whole night and kept getting information about the situation. So far, 2 lakh 11 thousand 234 people have been evacuated to safe places in Bengal.

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said that cyclonic storm 'Dana' has hit the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal. ISRO's EOS-06 and INSAT-3DR satellites have been monitoring the storm since October 20. Providing real-time data to aid disaster management efforts. Due to the fear of the storm hitting, authorities in Odisha and West Bengal have evacuated lakhs of people to safe places. Schools have been closed. More than 400 trains have been canceled and flights suspended.
