Cricket Australia has lifted the lifetime ban imposed on David Warner. In 2018, Warner was banned for life from captaining any team in Australia. But now Cricket Australia's Conduct Commission has reviewed the decision and decided to lift the ban on Warner. The lifting of the lifetime leadership ban on Warner means that he will now be able to captain any team in Australia again. The lifting of the ban has also raised hopes of him captaining Sydney Thunders in the next BBL.

This ban was imposed on David Warner for ball tampering in a Test match against South Africa in 2018. Apart from Warner, Steve Smith was also found guilty in the ball-tampering case and was banned from cricket for one year.

Cricket Australia lifts lifetime ban on Warner.

However, now 6 years after banning Warner, Cricket Australia has withdrawn its decision. A press release was issued by Cricket Australia regarding this, in which it was told that on October 25, a 3-member panel of the Conduct Commission reviewed the lifetime leadership ban imposed on Warner, after which it was decided to remove it. The panel found that according to the changes made in the Code of Conduct of Australian Cricket in the year 2022, Warner meets the necessary provisions for lifting the ban.

Apart from this, David Warner's contribution to Australian cricket was also taken into consideration, which helped the panel in reaching its decision.

After the lifetime leadership ban was imposed against him in 2018, Warner had appealed for a review. In 2022, Warner was so fed up with the ban imposed on him that he even withdrew the appeal. After waiting for 6 years, the ban on captaincy has finally been lifted. This ban on Warner was limited to Australia only. On one hand, while there is happiness over the lifting of the ban, on the other hand, there will also be regret that his wish to captain Australia in the T20 World Cup before retiring remained unfulfilled.
