The 25-year-old, who is now ranked ninth in the ATP Live Race to Turin, persevered and won in two hours and thirty-four minutes.

When the first set entered a tiebreak, Mensik was the first to change tactics. He won the first set 7-6(2) by using forceful groundstrokes and forcing the Australian to make mistakes. The ATP statistics show that he hit 24 winners, including nine aces, in the opening set.

De Minaur equalized the match by winning the set 6-3 after responding with a vital break in the sixth game of the second set. In the sixth game of the third set, the Australian broke Mensik once again and maintained control of the match.

Mensik is still on course to earn a spot in the December Next Gen ATP Finals despite the defeat. In the ATP Live Race to Jeddah, the 19-year-old is now ranked third.

In other news, Khachanov extended his winning run to seven games by defeating Matteo Berrettini 6-1, 6-4.

At the ATP 500 event in Vienna, the 28-year-old, who won the Almaty Open the previous week, defeated the Italian in one hour and eighteen minutes to get to his first semifinal.

Khachanov’s victory was his first in the ATP Head-to-Head Series between the two, which Berrettini now leads 4-1.
