Congress releases third list of candidates for Maharashtra elections, Dayanand gets ticket from Bhiwandi West

Congress has released the third list of candidates for Maharashtra Assembly elections. The names of a total of 16 candidates are included in the list. The party has fielded Asif Zakaria from Bandra West. Whereas Rajesh Latkar has been given ticket from Kolhapur. Manohar Purouti has been fielded from Gadchiroli and Mohanrao Ambade from Nanded South. The party has given ticket to Dayanand Choraghe from Bhiwandi West. Bhiwandi West seat is the seat which was claimed by Samajwadi Party, but now Congress has declared its candidate from there.

Congress on Saturday first announced 23 and then 16 candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The party has so far announced the names of a total of 87 candidates. The party has fielded Anuja, wife of senior leader Sunil Kedar.

Anuja will contest elections from Savner's seat

Kedar has been disqualified from contesting elections for six years after his conviction in the Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank (NDCCB) scam. Anuja will contest from Savner seat of Nagpur district. The opposition party has retained Jalna MLA Kailash Gorantyal. The party had retained 25 sitting MLAs in its first list of candidates.

Still deadlock over some seats

After several days of deadlock, MVA on Wednesday announced the seat sharing formula for the 288-member state assembly elections. Under this, it was announced that Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and NCP (SP) would contest elections on 85-85 seats. There is still a deadlock over some seats. Voting for the assembly elections in Maharashtra will take place on November 20, while counting of votes will take place on November 23.

The second and third lists of candidates were released a day after the meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress. The seat coordination in MVA has not been finalized yet, although Congress' Maharashtra in-charge Ramesh Chennithala had said after the CEC meeting on Friday that the Mahavikas Aghadi is united in Maharashtra and the seat coordination will be finalized by Saturday evening.
