In the Women's T20 World Cup 2024, Team India had to face elimination in the first round itself. Team India's poor batting has been a topic of discussion in this tournament, but if there was anything worse than that, it was the performance in fielding. Indian players dropped many easy catches during this tournament, for which they had to suffer the consequences. The same trend of poor fielding is now continuing in the ODI series against New Zealand, where Indian players dropped 4-5 easy catches. Amidst all this, Radha Yadav alone set an example for her team by showing amazing fielding and taking 2 tremendous catches.

Deepti crossed the limits

The Kiwi team came out to bat first in the second match of the ODI series on Sunday 27 October at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. During this, New Zealand made an excellent start and scored 97 runs losing only 1 wicket in 20 overs. The reason for this strong start by New Zealand was India's poor fielding because the team's experienced all-rounder Deepti Sharma had dropped 2 easy catches, due to which New Zealand got the advantage. Deepti again dropped a catch on her own bowling in the 34th over. Apart from him, Jemimah Rodrigues, one of the good fielders of the team, also disappointed by dropping an easy catch.

Radha taught fielding lessons

On one hand, Deepti Sharma dropped 3 easy catches, while on the other hand, left arm spinner Radha Yadav showed why she is the best fielder of the team. Unlike Deepti, Radha took only 3 catches, one of which was on her own bowling and the remaining 2 catches were such that no one could believe their eyes. Radha, posted at midwicket, took a sensational catch of opener Georgia Plimmer by taking a long dive to her right on Deepti Sharma's ball in the 16th over and gave India its first success.

This catch in itself was a lesson for the rest of the team but Radha was determined to set another example. This time in the 32nd over, Radha turned and ran backwards from the cover position and again took an incredible catch while flying in the air. On the basis of this catch, dangerous batsman Brook Halliday was out, which was the first wicket of debuting leg spinner Priya Mishra. Earlier, in the T20 World Cup also, Radha had taken a similar catch and proved that she is many times better than any Indian player in fielding.
