Dec. 28 in Lahore Gary Kirsten, the white ball head coach for the Pakistan cricket team and a former South Africa cricket player, has quit his job. This comes after reports that his problems with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) got worse, leading to him leaving his position as head coach. The Pakistan National Cricket team now doesn’t have a coach.

There were only six months left on Gary Kirsten’s job as head coach of the Pakistan cricket team before he quit.

Reports say that Gary Kirsten had an argument with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over how to choose the team and make the group public for the upcoming series against Australia and Zimbabwe. The disagreement got worse when it was said that PCB didn’t listen to Gary Kirsten’s ideas about the team. This made him decide to quit as head coach.

Sources told IANS that the PCB did the same thing when its new selection committee told test coach Jason Gillespie and captain Shan Masood they couldn’t have a say in choosing the team.

“And even though Jason Gillespie didn’t like how the selection committee was acting, he was determined to do his job.” What Gary Kirsten did, on the other hand, was different; he quit, and that was that,” it said.

Gary Kirsten was hired as Pakistan’s white-ball coach in April 2024 for a period of two years. His hiring was called into question, though, after the Pakistan team’s terrible showing in the T20 World Cup. Some people in the PCB and its selection group chose to make their own choices.

Now that Gary Kirsten has quit, the Pakistan cricket team doesn’t have a coach. Sources say that Aqib Javed, a former Pakistan cricket player, is expected to take over for Kirsten for a short time. Gary Kirsten would not be going on tour with the team to Australia. He is scheduled to return to his guiding tasks with several clubs around the world.

There have been problems in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for a while now. There are disagreements between the team coach, leader, and the PCB selection committee, which hurts the team’s success in both shorter and longer forms of the game.

Although Gary Kirsten has left, the Pakistan white ball team is still going strong without a stable coach.
