India’s teams for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy match against Australia and the Twenty20 International series against South Africa were recently revealed. Nevertheless, due to the growing injury list, some players will miss both series. Mayank Yadav is one of the guys whose injury would be devastating to both him and the Indian team management.

The 22-year-old fast bowler, however, is expected to miss a significant amount of action for Team India due to injury concerns; thus, his absence will not be limited to the next few series.

Mayank Yadav Has a Back Problem
Mayank Yadav took six wickets in the three Twenty20 Internationals during his outstanding debut series against Bangladesh. However, it was later disclosed that Mayank had once again sustained an injury and was thus unable to make the team for South Africa, as per the BCCI announcement naming the roster.

The Telegraph said that Mayank Yadav was sidelined due to a back issue rather than the side strain that kept him out of play after only four IPL 2024 matches. He was supposed to compete in the Ranji Trophy starting in the fourth or fifth round, but those plans have also been abandoned. In actuality, Mayank was not given the chance to go to Australia as a backup pacer.

“His back seems to be having some issues… It may potentially be a stress fracture. He may participate in the Ranji Trophy starting in the fourth or fifth round, as per the previous recommendation from the NCA (National Cricket Academy), but that is no longer feasible. He will be absent for a while again,” a BCCI official said.

It is anticipated that Mayank Yadav will return for the England ODI series.

Devendra Sharma, Mayank Yadav’s personal coach, claims that the fast bowler has been told not to play right now because the team management wants to bring him back for the February three-match ODI series against England. He will thus be out of commission for three months.

“Mayank has been told not to play right now because they want him back for the England ODIs, but it’s not that he has suffered a new injury,” Devendra Sharma said.
