Gear down:

First, downshift slowly to reduce the speed of the motorcycle. Downshifting will cause engine braking, which helps in reducing the speed of the bike. Do not downshift suddenly, rather downshift one gear at a time so that the bike remains stable and you do not lose control.

Handle the clutch:

Try to release the clutch slowly. If you keep the clutch fully pressed, you will not get the benefit of engine braking. Releasing the clutch slowly will help slow down the bike through the gear engine.

Consider turning off the engine:

If the bike is not moving at a very high speed, turning off the engine can also be an option, this will give effective engine braking. Note that this can make handling a little difficult, so try it at low speeds only.

Select the route:

Choose a slope or open area on the way so that you can slow down the bike in a controlled manner. If there is a rough or grassy area, try slowly turning the bike towards it, this will increase the friction and slow down the bike.

Use the side walls for support:

If there is a wall, railing or other stable object on the way, try to gently press on it with your foot. This will help in reducing the speed of the bike.

Use horn and indicators:

If the brakes fail and you are trying to control the bike, use the horn and indicators so that others understand your situation and give way.

Use your feet (carefully):

When the bike's speed reduces significantly, slowly put your feet on the ground and try to stop by friction. Use this method only when your speed has slowed down considerably. In case of brake failure, it is always important to stay calm and react quickly.
