October is shaping up to be a major launch month for Chinese manufacturers. Amid the release of the Oppo Find X8 series and upcoming OnePlus 13, attention is also on Xiaomi's upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi 15. This year, the new Xiaomi flagship series will include the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro launching in China on October 29, with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra expected to debut early next year.
As Xiaomi's next-generation flagship, the Xiaomi 15 lineup is anticipated to introduce notable upgrades in display, camera, and processing power compared to last year's Xiaomi 14 series. Let's take a closer look at the expected specifications and potential India release of the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro. Xiaomi 15 expected specifications Recent images shared by Xiaomi executives confirm that the Xiaomi 15 will feature a sleek design with a flat AMOLED display, narrow bezels, and a square camera module. The device is rumoured to sport a 6.36-inch flat AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, possibly incorporating LTPO technology for optimised power consumption. The Xiaomi 15 will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, built on a 3nm process for enhanced efficiency and processing power. This chipset is expected to deliver improved gaming and graphics performance, thanks to its updated Adreno GPU. The base model may start with 12GB of RAM. Camera performance is another highlight, as Xiaomi continues its collaboration with Leica for photography. The Xiaomi 15 is rumoured to feature a 50-megapixel OV50H main camera, accompanied by a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide sensor for versatile photography. On the front, a 32-megapixel camera is expected. Under the hood the Xiaomi 15 may house a robust 5,500mAh battery with support for 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi 15 Pro expected specifications The Xiaomi 15 Pro will differentiate itself from the base model with a larger, more advanced display. It's expected to feature a 6.78-inch quad-curved 2K AMOLED display, supporting Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a DCI-P3 wide colour gamut, with a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. Like the standard model, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will also be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset but may offer up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Significant camera enhancements are expected for the Pro model. Equipped with a Leica-tuned 50-megapixel Light Fusion primary camera, the Xiaomi 15 Pro could deliver exceptional low-light performance and detail-focused photography. A 5x periscope telephoto lens capable of 10x lossless zoom is also rumoured, along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. The Xiaomi 15 Pro is anticipated to have a larger 6,100mAh battery, supporting faster charging and potentially longer usage times. Xiaomi's new HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15, is set to debut with the Xiaomi 15 series. Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro India launch timeline and expected pricing While the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro will first launch in China this month, the Indian market may see the Xiaomi 15 series debut in early 2025, likely around March if Xiaomi follows its previous release cycle. However, only the standard Xiaomi 15 is expected to be available in India, as the Pro and Ultra models are often exclusive to select markets. Regarding pricing, the Xiaomi 15 series is rumoured to be more expensive than the Xiaomi 14 series. Given that the Xiaomi 14 started at Rs 69,999 in India, the Xiaomi 15 could debut in the range of Rs 75,000 to Rs 80,000.
