A 30-year-old man from Hyderabad died in his sleep following which his visually impaired parents, not knowing that he was dead, lived with the body for four days. They were rescued after the neighbours noted a foul smell and informed the police on Monday (October 28).
The incident took place in Blinds Colony, where the man was found dead inside a house. His elderly parents, both aged above 60, were lying beside his body in a semi-conscious state, police said.
According to a preliminary investigation, the man is suspected to have died in his sleep about four to five days ago. The blind parents did not know that their younger son had died and they tried calling him up for food and water but did not get any response, said Nagole station house officer A Surya Nayak.
Nayak said with their feeble voice, it seemed their neighbours also could not hear them. They were offered food and water by the police. After getting information from the couple about their elder son, who lives in another locality of the city, the police informed him.
The man’s body was moved to a state-run hospital for post-mortem and a case was registered.
