Uttar Pradesh: Muzaffarnagar busts an internet gang peddling weapons; seven are detained

Police in Uttar Pradesh announced Wednesday that they had arrested seven individuals, including two purchasers in Muzaffarnagar, and busted a group that was selling weapons on social media.

According to the police, the seven defendants are Azam Rizwi, Vivek Nagar, Pratik Tyagi, Manish Kumar, Rishab Prajapati, Vishal, and Pratik.

According to the authorities, they found two cartridges, three firearms, and one handgun among these individuals.

“Police had received information from an informer that a pistol was to be delivered,” said Satya Narayan Prajapati, SP City, Muzaffarnagar. When a police crew arrived to deliver the shipment, both the customer and the vendor were taken into custody. Vishal and Pratik, two of the accused, had come to purchase the weapon. Five youths in all—Azam Rizwi, Vivek Nagar, Pratik Tyagi, Manish Kumar, and Rishab Prajapati—came to deliver the gun. Three firearms, two cartridges, and one more handgun were found on these individuals. They use social media to negotiate agreements with various market participants on demand, after which they transfer funds in cash or their bank accounts.”
