The last date for IPL retention is 31 October but even before that, much such news is coming out which is shocking. The news of the current IPL champion captains Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant being out of their current teams has already made the situation exciting. Now a big claim is being made about Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill. There were reports of Gill, who was made the captain in the last season, leaving Gujarat and now it is being told that a big team was preparing to buy him but it could not happen. This team is Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Gill wanted to buy Gill

News18's report claims that the Bangalore franchise recently discussed the auction with Shubman Gill. The report states that the idea behind bringing Gill to the franchise was to prepare the team for the future. In such a situation, Bangalore approached Gill but these discussions were not successful and Bangalore could not convince Gill to come to the auction. A major reason for this is Gill's decision to stay in Gujarat Titans. Gill has decided to stay with his current team, where he has been for the last 3 seasons.

Gill made a big decision

Gujarat made Gill the captain last season and he wants to be a part of the future team with this franchise. Some reports have claimed that Gill preferred to maintain loyalty to the team, so he thought it better to stay with Gujarat instead of entering the auction. Not only this, reports are also saying that Gill also agreed to be second on the retention list, which means that he will not get the highest salary. Gill did this for Afghan superstar Rashid Khan, who will be made the first retention.

As far as Bangalore is concerned, the most surprising news has come about the captaincy of the team. Since the end of last season, it was believed that Faf du Plessis would be released before the mega auction. In such a situation, the franchise needs a captain and after 3 years, the biggest face of the team, Virat Kohli, is returning to this role. Kohli left the captaincy after the 2021 season. However, his 9-year-long tenure also did not prove to be good and the team could not win a single title. Despite this, Kohli is ready to become the captain again.
