Annakoot is prepared on the day of Govardhan Puja and there is a tradition of offering it. Along with Annakoot, 56 offerings are also prepared for Lord Krishna.
How to perform Govardhan Puja at home?
On the day of Govardhan Puja, wake up in Brahma Muhurta, take bath and worship Lord Krishna.
After this, make a statue of Govardhan Maharaj in the courtyard of the house in the afternoon.
Along with Govardhan Maharaj, idols of cow, calf and Braj are also made.
After this, decorate Govardhan Maharaj and all the idols with flowers and kheel.
Then in the auspicious time, apply Roli, Akshat and sandalwood to Govardhan Maharaj.
In between, praise Govardhan Maharaj with the family and sing bhajans.
After this, things like milk, paan, kheel batashe, Annakoot etc. should be offered.
Then mix milk in water with the whole family and circumambulate Govardhan Maharaj seven times.
After parikrama, light a ghee lamp and perform aarti.
Then shout praises of Govardhan Maharaj and take blessings of the elders of the house.
