Govardhan Puja:Govardhan Puja is an important festival of Hindu religion, which is celebrated every year on the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. On this day, this festival is celebrated to commemorate the worship of Govardhan Mountain by Lord Krishna. It is also called Annakoot, because especially delicious food is offered on this day.
Govardhan Puja has a special significance. On this day, people celebrate with each other and pray to Lord Krishna for prosperity, happiness and peace. The message of brotherhood and unity is also given on this festival. Therefore, there is a tradition of celebrating it with pomp and show.
Govardhan Puja is celebrated every year on the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. This time, Kartik Pratipada Tithi will start at 6:16 pm on November 1 and end at 8:21 pm on November 2. In such a situation, Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on 2 November 2024 (Saturday).
This year the auspicious time of Govardhan Puja is from 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm on 2nd November. During this time you can offer prayers. You will get about 2 hours 45 minutes time on this day.
Govardhan Puja is also called Annakoot, because special offerings are made on this day. On this day, the idol of Govardhan Maharaj is made from cow dung and special bhog is prepared for him, which includes 56 bhog.
1. On the day of Govardhan Puja, wake up early in the morning, take bath and worship Lord Krishna.
2. Make a statue of Govardhan Maharaj in the courtyard of the house. Make idols of cow, calf and Braj also.
3. Decorate Govardhan Maharaj and other idols with flowers and kheel.
4. Apply Roli, Akshat and sandalwood to Govardhan Maharaj, then offer milk, paan, kheel batashe and Annakoot.
5. Circumambulate around Govardhan Maharaj seven times with the entire family.
6. Finally, light a ghee lamp and perform aarti.
