According to the centuries-old tradition, on the day of Govardhan Puja, an idol of Govardhan Maharaj is made from cow dung and worshiped with the entire family, which is considered a symbol of prosperity and happiness. This year Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on 2 November.

The auspicious time for Govardhan Puja in the year 2024 is on November 2 from 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm. It is considered extremely auspicious to worship Lord Govardhan Maharaj in this special time, which will last for 2 hours 15 minutes. During this time, by offering Annakoot and worshiping with the family, one gets the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Krishna and happiness and prosperity remains in the house.

Special tradition to get the blessings of Lord Krishna

On the occasion of Govardhan Puja, there is a tradition of making Annakoot and offering it to Lord Krishna. 56 types of different dishes are prepared in Annakoot, which is also known as Chhappan Bhog. This offering is considered a symbol of Lord Krishna's favorite things and is offered to receive his special blessings. Annakoot is also organized in temples on this day. Where devotees worship collectively and after receiving Annakoot Prasad, pray for happiness and prosperity in their lives.

For auspiciousness on the day of Govardhan Puja, first of all there is a tradition of massaging the body with oil and taking a bath. After bathing, the shape of Govardhan Mountain is made with cow dung at the main entrance of the house, which is not made inside the house. All around this mountain, it is decorated with figures of cowherds, trees and plants and an idol or picture of Lord Krishna is installed in the middle.

After this, Govardhan Mountain and Lord Krishna are duly worshiped and Panchamrit and various dishes are offered. At the end of the puja, one prays to God for one's wishes, which brings happiness, prosperity and blessings of wealth in life.
