The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police has started the extradition process to bring back Anmol Bishnoi, brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is jailed in the case of firing incident at actor Salman Khan's house, from abroad. A senior official said that the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) court has already issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of Anmol Bishnoi, and a Red Corner Notice has also been issued to search for him abroad. .
A Red Corner Notice is a request to Interpol member countries to locate and arrest a wanted criminal. A crime branch official said that apart from the warrant, the police need court documents to formalize the extradition process. The MCOCA court had approved the crime branch's application on October 16 and the police are hopeful of getting the necessary documents soon.
For further action, Mumbai Crime Branch has sent an application for extradition of Anmol Bishnoi to the Central Government. Police say that along with the warrant, they will also have to take permission from the American court. Only after which the arrest of Anmol Bishnoi will be possible. However, the Special MCOCA Court had approved it only on 16 October. After receiving some important documents, the police will request the Central Government to take action in this matter.
Lawrence Bishnoi's younger brother Anmol Bishnoi runs the Bishnoi Gang along with Goldie Brar and Rohit Godara. Police has been searching for Anmol Bishnoi for many years. According to recent information, Anmol is in America. The IP address of the Facebook ID from which he had claimed responsibility for firing at Salman Khan's house was from Portugal. NIA has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh on Anmol. Lawrence is currently lodged in Sabarmati jail in Gujarat. Gujarat Police has the right of his custody. The Home Ministry has currently banned the transfer of Lawrence's custody.
