“Indian Karting Race 2024,” GITAM’s mechanical engineering students won a national prize for creating a cutting-edge car.

The mechanical engineering students demonstrated their inventiveness, technical proficiency, and deep comprehension of engineering concepts while competing against 53 outstanding teams from different colleges around the country.

In order to compete at the national level, the students, who are also members of the school’s Automotive Club, founded “Team Tyrants EV” four months ago.

The crew concentrated on carefully planning and assembling the procedure over the four-month trip. By choosing the best engine, finding premium replacement components, and using exacting welding and assembly methods, they used their technical expertise to create a one-of-a-kind car. A strong, high-performing cart that satisfied competition requirements and performed well on the national stage was the result of the arduous training, and the team won.

Team Tyrants EV received recognition for their creativity and accuracy in addition to the national prize and an all-India rank-1 in engineering design. Their meticulous planning and attention to detail were highlighted by the fact that they were the first team to pass technical inspection. Additionally, they demonstrated their expertise in electric car technology by becoming second runner-up in the electric category.

“The award is a testament to facilitating a hands-on learning approach for the students,” said Y Gowtham Rao, the institution’s in-charge vice chancellor, who complimented the staff and acknowledged the students’ commitment to succeeding in both academics and practical applications.

The team’s remarkable competence and collaboration in developing and manufacturing their own vehicle further strengthened the institution’s engineering program’s ability to produce future innovators, the in-charge VC stated.
