Tech News Desk,Cyber security is an important issue for India as well as other countries. With the advancement of technology over time, on one hand people are taking advantage of it. On the other hand, scammers also try to cheat people by using these technologies. One such incident has come to light, in which a person working in Noida had to face a scam regarding electricity bill payment. Rahul Yadav, working in Noida, told us how a scammer in the name of BSES Delhi Tried to arrest him digitally. Here we will tell you how you can avoid this.
How did the scam start?
Rahul told us that he first got a call from a man who introduced himself as an Electricity Department employee. He told Rahul that even after your payment, your bill has not been cleared and you have to update it. After this, he sent a link to Rahul and asked him to clear it. Rahul told that this link was with the original people and he had no doubt about it, so he clicked on the link. This is where they made a mistake. As soon as he clicked on this link, an app was downloaded on his device in the background. The scammer asked him whether he had paid through any option. Rahul told the scammer that he had made the payment through UPI. On this the scammer asked him to choose some other option. Since it seemed genuine to Rahul and he had to pay only Rs 3, he agreed to it. Rahul clicked on the credit card option and filled in his details, but the payment was declined by the bank. Meanwhile, the scammer started call forwarding on Rahul's phone. This alarmed Rahul a bit and he immediately canceled it. After some time, a message comes from the bank, in which it was said that the payment has been canceled due to security reasons. Rahul immediately blocked all his cards. By doing this scammers will not be able to access their card.
