On Tuesday, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai presided over a meeting with relevant ministries to discuss the problem of increasing pollution levels in the nation’s capital.

For the last several days, the national capital’s air quality has been in the “very poor” category, with many parts of Delhi falling into the “severe” category.

AQIs are classified as “poor” between 200 and 300, “very poor” between 301 and 400, “severe” between 401 and 450, and “severe plus” at 450 and above.

Gopal Rai made a case earlier in the day for a coordinated effort to reduce pollution in the states of North India, while accusing the BJP administrations in nearby states of engaging in “politics” related to air pollution.

“BJP governments are in power in the Center, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Other than politics, they have no idea what to do. The Northern States’ governments will all need to cooperate. While the BJP administration sits quietly, the Delhi government works around the clock. We must close this gap,” Gopal Rai told ANI.

The AAP leader said that the BJP was evading its obligations.
“BJP workers’ theatrics won’t contribute to pollution reduction. “The BJP is evading its obligations,” Rai said.
