Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP, leads the DISHA meeting in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and a Congress MP, presided over a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) in Raebareli on Tuesday.

The MP serves as the chairman of the quarterly DISHA committee meetings.

Rahul Gandhi opened the recently constructed Shaheed Chowk and Degree College Chauraha in Raebareli earlier in the day. He also went to the city’s Hanuman Mandir and Shri Peepaleshwar Mahadevji Mandir to worship.

Rahul Gandhi, who is now Rae Bareli’s Member of Parliament, is in the area for a single day. He will also open roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) when he is there. Interestingly, Rahul Gandhi won the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency by commanding 390,030 votes in the general elections of 2024.
Rahul Gandhi will go to Hyderabad later today to discuss the state government’s caste census with stakeholders and thinkers.

Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar provided information regarding the caste survey, stating that it is being carried out in Telangana for the first time.

“Rahul Gandhi will go to Hyderabad to engage with stakeholders and thinkers over the state government’s caste census…In Telangana, a caste survey is being carried out for the first time.”The decision will be made for the benefit of each enumerator, who has been assigned 150 houses to survey,” Telangana Minister Prabhakar said on Monday.

A thorough caste census will be carried out in Telangana between November 6 and November 30, according to a statement made by Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar in October.

“From November 6 to November 30, a thorough caste survey will be carried out in Telangana. We are now carrying on the commitment we made during the elections,” Telangana Minister Prabhakar said.

Congress has called for the government to perform a caste census on many occasions, calling it a “progressive and significant step.”
