When Sharda Sinha got disqualified in talent search
Sharda Sinha had narrated the incident during an interview. In this he had told how he got rejections in the beginning and later praise from Begum Akhtar. Singer said- The story begins with HMV. (A studio which used to organize competitions from place to place and select talented people). During that time a talent search was conducted. Advertisements appeared in newspapers. Everyone ran. The thought came to my mind that I too should join the queue. Must participate. The audition was being held at Burlington Hotel, Lucknow. The audition was on the same day I reached Lucknow. In such a situation, when we reached the hotel, we came to know that HMV has set up its studio at number 11 and auditions are taking place. People were coming one after the other and everyone was getting rejected. I also went but I was also disqualified. I felt very sad.
Sharda, who was disappointed due to not getting selection in the first attempt, was encouraged by her husband. He said to try Sharda once again. Sharda came again to audition. This time, coincidentally, the person who was auditioning her was none other than veteran singer Begum Akhtar. Begum called Sharda and said that her voice was very good. They just need to practice. He patted Sharda's back and encouraged her. After this, Sharda Sinha believed that she had passed the career test and after this meeting, her life changed.
Sharda Sinha was ill for a long time. In between, there was even a rumor of his death. Then the singer, on his part, put an end to such news and confirmed his health. Singer was battling blood cancer named multiple myeloma. She was suffering from this disease since 6 years ago in 2018 and her health had deteriorated during the Corona period. He was admitted to the Rotary Cancer Hospital of AIIMS Delhi. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991 for his incomparable contribution to folk songs. In 2018, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan. Apart from this, Sharda Sinha, who raised the name of Bihar across the world, was also given the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
