According to a former Toronto Police Sergeant, Canadian Police were aware that one of its personnel had previously taken part in Khalistani rallies in October before being caught by radicals in the violent demonstration at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton and suspended.

Numerous Khalistani separatist demonstrators physically assaulted some of the worshipers at the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton, according to former Toronto Police Sergeant (Detective) Donald Best, who currently works as an investigative journalist.

“Protesters from the Khalistani separatist organization arrived to a Hindu temple in Brampton, Ontario, on Sunday afternoon and staged a noisy demonstration outside. This is illegal in Canada; it is forbidden to disrupt a religious gathering.I am aware that several Khalistani separatist protesters physically assaulted some of the worshipers there, but I am not aware of who threw the first stone, who struck someone, or who entered the premises first.

Videos of them on the property had been shown to us; that was already awful. We discovered that a sergeant, a current Peel police officer, was among the demonstrators, who ultimately formed a violent mob. In an interview with ANI, Donald Best said, “I became aware of that on Sunday evening.”

According to Donald Best, he asked the police for confirmation and received an email stating that the individual was an off-duty police officer, that he had been suspended, and that an internal inquiry was underway into his actions.

Sergeant Harinder Sohi is his name. He may be seen waving a Khalistani flag,” Donald Best said.

He remembered seeing the same officer during a Khalistani separatist demonstration in October.

In mid-October, a demonstration took place in downtown Toronto. At the rally, I ran into the same policeman. He is carrying a flag and a banner that reads, “Canada should ban India’s consulate.”

According to Donald Best, “some of the Khalistani separatists are like terrorists,” and many photos would have been captured by the surveillance services.

“I have no doubt that the police services knew in October, at least then, that this officer was participating with the Khalistani separatist protests in Canada,” he said.

According to CBC News, a Peel Regional Police officer was suspended after being recognized in footage of a demonstration outside the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton on Sunday. Sergeant Harinder Sohi was named as the suspended officer.

A spokesman for Peel Police, Richard Chin, said that the police department is aware of the social media video that shows one of their off-duty officers taking part in a demonstration.

“We are aware that a video of an off-duty Peel police officer participating in a protest is making the rounds on social media. Since then, the Community Safety and Policing Act has been used to suspend this officer. According to CBC News, Chin said, “We are looking into the situation as it is shown in the video and cannot give any more details until this investigation is finished.”

In relation to the demonstrations in Brampton and Mississauga, Ontario, Peel Regional Police said on Monday that they had made a number of arrests.

India has often expressed its profound worry over extremism, the culture of violence, and anti-Indian actions in Canada, and it has urged Canadian authorities to take action against these activities. As a result, relations with Canberra have sharply deteriorated.

On Sunday, there was a “violent disruption” at the Indian consulate camp at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Canada, which is close to Toronto. Widespread condemnation was directed at the occurrence both within and outside of Canada.

New Delhi expects Canadian authorities to guarantee justice and follow the rule of law, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Monday, condemning the “deliberate attack” on a Hindu temple in Canada and calling for “cowardly attempts to intimidate” Indian diplomats.

“I vehemently condemn the intentional assault on a Canadian Hindu temple. The despicable efforts to intimidate our ambassadors are equally reproachable. India’s determination would never be weakened by such violent attacks. On X, Prime Minister Modi said, “We expect the Canadian government to uphold the rule of law and ensure justice.”

Hours after the Ministry of External Affairs denounced the violent actions committed by separatists and extremists at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario, on Sunday, PM Modi made his forceful remark.

“We urge the Canadian government to make sure that all houses of worship are safe from these kinds of assaults. We also anticipate that individuals who engage in violent behavior will face consequences. In response to questions from the media about the violence in Brampton, MEA spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal said, “We continue to have serious concerns about the safety and security of Indian nationals in Canada.””

“The outreach of our Consular officers to provide services to Indians and Canadian citizens alike will not be deterred by intimidation, harassment and violence,” he said.

The “violent disruption” outside a consular camp by “anti-India” forces was denounced by the Indian High Commission in Canada. Any future activities would be planned “contingent on security arrangements” established by the local authorities, according to the High Commission.
After Canadian politicians made accusations about an assassination on their territory without supporting documentation, relations between India and Canada drastically deteriorated.

Concerned about the assault on the Hindu temple in Canada, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is now in Australia, said Tuesday that the event demonstrates how “political space” is being given to the “extremist forces” in the nation.

“What transpired in the Canadian Hindu temple yesterday was quite alarming.”You ought to have seen yesterday’s statement from our official spokesman and our PM’s expression of worry. At a joint news conference with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Jaishankar said, “That should show you how strongly we feel about it.”

In response to another question, he discussed the political wiggle room granted to “extremist forces” in Canada.

“Allow me to say three things. First, accusations without details have become commonplace in Canada. Second, we find it intolerable that Canada is maintaining surveillance over our ambassadors. Third, have a look at the films and the happenings (attack on the Hindu temple). “I believe they will inform you in a manner that has been granted to extremist forces in the political sphere today,” Jaishankar said.
India had to recall its High Commissioner from Canada due to the severe deterioration in relations.

Additionally, earlier this month, India called in the Canadian High Commission representative and presented a diplomatic note in which the government strongly objected to Deputy Minister David Morrison’s “absurd and baseless” references to Union Home Minister Amit Shah before the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security in Ottawa.

The disclosure that senior Canadian officials purposefully spread false information to the world press as part of a deliberate effort to undermine India and sway other countries only serves to validate the perception that the Indian government has long had of the political agenda and conduct of the current Canadian government. Bilateral relations would suffer greatly as a result of such careless behavior,” Jaiswal said.

India met with Stewart Wheeler, Canada’s then-charge d’affaires, last month and expressed its disapproval of the “baseless targeting” of the Indian High Commissioner and other Canadian diplomats and officials.

India emphasized that the Trudeau Government’s actions put their safety in jeopardy in a climate of violence and extremism.”We don’t believe that the present Canadian government will protect them. Thus, the High Commissioner and other targeted diplomats and personnel have been withdrawn by the Government of India,” the MEA had said in a statement.

After Trudeau claimed in the Canadian Parliament last year that he had “credible allegations” that India was involved in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the two countries’ relations deteriorated. All of the accusations have been refuted by India, which has called them “absurd” and “motivated.” India has also accused Canada of providing room for anti-Indian and extremist forces in their nation.India’s National Investigation Agency named Nijjar a terrorist. In June of last year, he was shot and died outside a Gurdwara in Surrey.

Additionally, Trudeau said last month that his government had only given India information about the assassination of Nijjar on Canadian territory, not concrete proof.According to Trudeau’s testimony before Canada’s foreign interference investigation, India has been demanding proof of Canada’s accusations.Behind the scenes, we’re attempting to get India to work with us. “Give us the evidence you have on us,” they asked. “It’s within your security agency,” was our reply. ‘No, no, but show us the proof’ is what you should be doing, as is investigating their level of knowledge. The main evidence at that time was intellect rather than concrete evidence. So we decided to collaborate,” he remarked.
