After a lot of speculation and a long wait, OpenAI has launched its search engine SearchGPT. After releasing the prototype of SearchGPT, the ChatGPT model has been trained in such a way that it can give real-time answers. According to OpenAI, now users can get fast and timely answers.
SearchGPT results also provide links to related web sources, for which one had to go to a search engine earlier. It is currently available for ChatGPT Plus and Team users. Apart from this, users included in the waiting list of SearchGPT will also get this facility from today.
Enterprise and education users will get access in the next few weeks. OpenAI will also roll out this feature for all free users in the next few months. ChatGPT Search is powered by a hybrid version of OpenAI's GPT-4 model, which provides real-time information and pictures from the web, such as sports scores, news updates, and stock prices, and also includes links to sources.
The search model is an optimized version of GPT-4o, further trained with output distillation from innovative synthetic data generation methods such as OpenAI's o1-preview. ChatGPT Search integrates third-party search engines as well as content directly from partnered providers to provide answers to users.
Information for poll questions will be pulled from outlets such as AP and Reuters. OpenAI has announced that it will further improve its search capabilities, particularly in the areas of shopping and travel, and will use its o1 "reasoning" model for more rigorous research.
