Nowadays Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan is in the news a lot. His Amazon Prime series 'Citadel: Honey Bunny' is already in the news, ever since the teaser cut of 'Baby John' came out, a lot of news is coming out about him. Currently, he is promoting Daba's 'Citadel: Honey Bunny' and will soon promote 'Baby John' as well. People are very excited about Varun's action avatar in his film 'Baby John'. There are big stars like Vamika Gabbi, Jackie Shroff and Keerthy Suresh along with Varun in the film, people are waiting for the film a lot, but in the meantime something has come to light which can reverse Varun's move.
Varun Dhawan's upcoming film Baby John is the Hindi remake of director Atlee's 2016 Tamil film 'Theri'. The amazing thing is that 'Theri' is also inspired by director Mani Ratnam's 'Chhatriyaan'. Theri stars Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson in lead roles. The story of the film is about a police inspector who wants to save his daughter from his old enemies.
If we look at this year, many such films were released which were remakes of one or the other film, but those films could not do that good business. Simply put, people no longer like this trend of remakes as much as they used to. Some recent films are a good example of this. Akshay Kumar had two films this year which were remakes but people did not like them at all. The first of these was 'Sarfira' and the second was 'Khel-Khel Mein'. Apart from this, there were many such films which were remakes but people did not like them that much.
Sarfira was the Hindi remake of the famous Tamil film Soorarai Pottru. Paresh Rawal and Radhika Madan worked with Akshay in this film. The film is based on a man who dreams of building a low-cost airline for low-earning people. Many people liked this film but it could not earn that much at the box office. People had already watched the original film online and the film had a clash with Kamal Haasan and Prabhas starrer 'Kalki 2898 AD'. The worldwide collection of the film was ₹30.02 crore.
No one knew when Divya Khosla's movie Savi came to the theaters and when it went out. This suspense-filled film, which was released in theaters in May, received mixed response from the audience and critics. The film had actors like Harshvardhan Rane and Anil Kapoor in lead roles along with Divya, but the film could not attract people. The film Saavi is a remake of the 2010 American action thriller film 'The Next Three Days'. 'The Next Three Days' was also a remake of the 2008 French film 'Pour Allie'.
The recently released multi-starrer film Khel-Khel was the Hindi remake of the 2017 Italian film 'Perfetti Sconosciuti' i.e. 'Perfect Strangers'. The film had a big star cast like Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor and Ammy Virk, although the film still could not do anything special.
