Meet India’s biggest donor, it’s not Mukesh Ambani, Ratan Tata, Gautam Adani, Azim Premji, Lodha, Narayana Murthy

Hurun India recently released its 2024 list of top philanthropists in India with Shiv Nadar and family retaining the leading position through a substantial donation of Rs 2153 crore. Following them Mukesh Ambani and family made a significant contribution of Rs 407 crore.
The top 10 philanthropists collectively donated Rs 4625 crore in FY24 accounting for nearly 53% of the total contributions in the list. New entrants Krishna Chivukula and Susmita & Subroto Bagchi also made it into the top 10 ranking 7th and 9th respectively.

The top 10 philanthropists on the list contributed a combined total of Rs 4625 crore in FY24 representing nearly 53% of the overall donations. Krishna Chivukula and Susmita & Subroto Bagchi made their debut in the top 10 ranking 7th and 9th respectively. Six of these leading donors have primarily focused their CSR initiatives on education emphasizing a strong commitment to expanding quality learning opportunities and supporting educational projects across India.
The Bajaj family climbed three spots to secure the third position with a remarkable donation of Rs 352 crore marking a 33% increase from FY23. Gautam Adani and family representing the Adani Group made a significant contribution of Rs 330 crore taking the fifth spot. This amount reflects a 16% increase over the previous year with their philanthropic efforts channeled mainly through the Adani Foundation. A major portion of their donation supports educational initiatives followed by skill development and community health programs.
