Earlier, the number of attempts for JEE Advanced was twice in two consecutive years. To appear in the Advanced exam, the student must be born on or after 1 October 2000. SC, ST, and PWD candidates have also been given a relaxation of 5 years in the age limit, that is, the students of this category should be born on or after 1 October 1995.

2.50 lakh top-ranked candidates of JEE Mains appear in the JEE Advanced exam every year. According to the new rules, candidates who have been admission to IIT go through Josaa counseling. All such students will not get the benefit of this i.e. they cannot appear in the exam. At the same time, students who have been admission to NIT can appear in the exam as per the new rules.

At the same time, if the results of class 12th academic year 2021-22 have been declared before 21 September 2022, but the result of a particular candidate has been withheld for any reason, then he cannot appear in JEE Advanced 2025. The Advanced exam can be conducted in the last week of May or the first week of June. It is mandatory to pass the JEE Mains exam to appear in JEE Advanced. JEE Mains and Advanced exams are conducted every year by the National Examination Agency.
