The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced "Ayurveda Biology" as a new subject in the UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET), effective from the December 2024 exam session. This addition was approved during UGC’s 581st meeting on June 25, 2024, based on recommendations from an expert committee.
Administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the UGC NET determines eligibility for lectureships and awards Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) at Indian universities. Starting in December 2024, Ayurveda Biology will become part of the exam's syllabus, promoting further educational and research opportunities within the field of Ayurveda.
This decision reflects UGC’s commitment to integrating traditional Indian knowledge into higher education, encouraging students to explore Ayurveda and related research areas. The syllabus for Ayurveda Biology is now available on the UGC-NET website.
Candidates interested in the UGC NET exam can find more information on the National Testing Agency (NTA) website, although applications for the December 2024 exam have not yet opened.
