If there is one actor whose style has visibly evolved over the years, it’s Ananya Panday. Not only has she become one of the most sought-after celebrity faces, but her fashion is surprisingly relatable. Now, who doesn’t love wearing sarees, lehengas, and suits that once belonged to their mothers or grandmothers? Ananya recently did just that, wearing a turquoise blue sleeveless suit for her sister, Deeya Shroff’s wedding. The suit is 21 years old and originally belonged to her mother, Bhavana Pandey. What makes it even more special is that it’s a creation of the late designer Rohit Bal.As Ananya shared photos from the wedding, she wrote about the significance of the suit, captioning: “Also wearing my mum’s @rohitbalofficial from 21 years ago! Gudda forever.” The designer was affectionately known as Gudda by his close friends and loved ones.
Just last month, Ananya had turned showstopper for the late designer. She walked for Bal at the closing show of Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI in Delhi, looking every inch of the diva that she is, in a cape-style jacket paired with a voluminous skirt embroidered with oversized rose motifs. It was one of the most talked-about shows, marking Bal’s return to the runway after a period of critical illness in 2023. He passed away at the age of 63 on 1st November, just two weeks after his comeback show. One of the most respected and successful designers, his designs were popular with Indian celebrities. He was also the first Indian designer to get recognised internationally. Time Magazine dubbed Bal “India's Master of fabric and fantasy.” He was best known for his use of Lotus and Peacock motifs, and for the spectacular construction in his clothing.
