Cancer is one of the leading causes of death globally. In the year 2021, about 10 million people died (one crore) due to cancer. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the global cancer rate could increase by 75% by the year 2050. Cancer has been considered the second leading cause of death after heart disease in the United States and around the world. Health experts say that a person of any age can get cancer. All people need to be constantly cautious about this growing problem.

Health experts have considered three reasons as the main reasons for the increasing cancer cases around the world. Doctors say, if we take some measures from an early age, keep the routine right, then we can reduce the chances of getting cancer significantly. Some habits have been found responsible for this, from which it is very important to stay away.

India celebrates National Cancer Awareness Day on 7 November every year to raise awareness about cancer prevention, early detection and treatment. Let's know what measures are important to take to prevent cancer?

Cancer can be prevented

We all probably know someone who has suffered from cancer. The World Health Organization reports that 30-50 percent of all cancer cases can be prevented. However, many people remain unsure about what important steps they can take to reduce the risk of cancer.

Let's know about the measures that can help keep you safe from cancer?

Measure 1: Do not let weight increase

While keeping weight under control is very important to keep the body healthy, studies have found overweight or obesity to be responsible for cancer. Being overweight does not mean that you will definitely get cancer, but it does increase your risks. Research shows that excess fat can cause inflammation responses, hormone imbalances and increased insulin resistance, which increases the risk of cancer. Therefore, it is important to prevent weight gain.

Solution 2: Do exercise
The second most important measure to prevent cancer is to remain physically active. Regular physical activity, even if it is at a mild level, can play an important role in preventing cancer. Exercise also helps in controlling weight, balancing hormone levels and improving immune function, all of which can reduce the risk of cancer.

Make it a habit to do at least 30 minutes of physical exercise every day.

Solution 3: Diet should be nutritious
Nutritious diet is important for maintaining overall health, it can also reduce the risk of cancer. Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains and things rich in healthy fats in the diet. This can help in protecting cells from damage and reducing the risk of cancer by increasing the body's immunity.

The American Institute for Cancer Research said in a research that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and other plant foods can reduce the risk of cancers such as lung, colorectal and stomach cancer.

Remedy 4: Stay away from alcohol and smoking

Alcohol and smoking are two habits that are considered major factors for cancer. Studies have found alcohol consumption to be responsible for colon and breast cancer in women. Similarly, smoking is considered to be the cause of cancer of the mouth, throat, bladder, pancreas and kidney. Carcinogens present in tobacco smoke damage the DNA in cells, causing mutations in them that can cause cancer. By improving these two habits, one can stay safe from many types of cancer.
