Donald Trump is expected to win the presidency of the United States once again. He lost the presidency in 2020 after initially taking office in 2016. He’s going back to the White House now. Although he made one trip to India as president of the United States in February 2020, he had already visited the country in August 2014 on a business trip.
According to reports, he had flown aboard his own Boeing 757 to Mumbai at that time. But as he waited for approval, his jet was detained in Mumbai for three hours.
Then, Donald Trump made his case as a Republican Party of America presidential contender. He was also growing his real estate company globally at the time. He believed that India had a lot of promise for his company.
According to reports, Trump has received two encouraging bids to construct Trump Towers in Pune and Mumbai from well-known Indian builders. Trump used his opulent private jet from New York to India to investigate these prospects.
Trump’s aircraft touched down at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on August 11, 2014. At 9:00 p.m., he was supposed to depart for Pune. However, since clearance to land at Pune airport had not been obtained, his jet was not permitted to fly. Trump’s aircraft stayed parked at the Mumbai airport as a result.
The Indian Air Force is in charge of Lohegaon Airport in Pune, and any foreign private aircraft landing there must first get permission from the Air Force. It seems that Trump was not aware of this condition, which put him and his friends in an awkward predicament. Officials at the Mumbai airport made it clear that they had no choice but to go back to New York without authorization.
At the time, the Mumbai Mirror reported that Trump’s jet had been delayed at the airport for three and a half hours. Trump stayed aboard the aircraft with his helper. The airport authorities refused to move in spite of all the reasons made by Trump’s jet crew.
In the meantime, the American Embassy, Trump’s promoters in India, and his assistance team became active. The Air Force Headquarters gave his jet permission to travel to Pune around 12.30 am.
The Pune Issue
After spending hours stuck at the Mumbai airport, Trump’s arrival in Pune brought up yet another problem. The jet was too high, and there were no high enough steps at the airport when his plane arrived in Pune after a half-hour journey. As a result, he was kept inside the aircraft for an hour until a makeshift ramp could be built next to it so he could get out. Trump’s first trip to India was this one.
When Donald Trump visited Pune in August 2014, he officially opened Trump Towers, a high-end residential development built by Panchshil Realty. Prominent members of the real estate industry and Bollywood attended the occasion. Two 23-story buildings make up Pune’s Trump buildings complex.
What is the number of Trump Towers in India?
There are now two Trump Towers in India that are finished and situated in Mumbai and Pune. There are two more being built in Kolkata and Gurugram. At least four other Trump Towers will be built in various locations by the Trump Organization in collaboration with Tribeca Developers. Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh are possible project sites. The current Trump Towers in Mumbai and Pune have garnered positive reviews.
Donald Trump has summoned a number of Indian builders to New York for talks before taking office as President of the United States in 2016. Donald Trump met with Kalpesh Mehta and other developers in New York in November 2016.
Trump’s Post-Presidential Visit to India
Trump was elected president of the United States in 2016. He was then asked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit India as the Republic Day main guest. At the moment, he was unable to attend. In his absence, however, his daughter Ivanka Trump traveled to India and took part in a number of events.
With only a few months left in his tenure, Trump made his first official trip to India in February 2020. He visited Agra, Ahmedabad, and Delhi throughout his journey. When he took part in the “Namaste Trump” event at Ahmedabad’s Motera Stadium, a sizable audience turned out to see him.
Inside Trump’s personal Boeing aircraft
Paul Allen, a co-founder of Microsoft, sold his Boeing 757 aircraft to Donald Trump in 2011 for almost Rs 700 crore. He then customized the interior decor. The airplane can accommodate 180–200 passengers; however, 43 people can sit comfortably.
The aircraft has custom amenities, such as a dining area, a guest room, a video conference room, and a separate bedroom for Trump. During his US presidential campaign in 2015–2016, Trump made notable use of this aircraft. With a cruising speed of almost 500 miles per hour, it is regarded as one of the most costly private aircraft in the world. It is also one of the quickest.
A powerful Rolls-Royce turbo engine powers the aircraft. An estimated Rs 7-8 lakh is spent on its operations per hour. Its interior is opulent, with golden chairs and dishes.
Beyond its luxurious appearance, the plane is noteworthy because it may make Trump the only head of state in the world to own a private Boeing jet at the moment. The plane, affectionately known as “T-Bird” (Trump Bird), has a particular position in Trump’s fleet.
