The fashion on Friends was iconic in the 1990s and 2000s — and it remains iconic today. Courteney Cox , who played Monica, may not have been a fan of her wardrobe back then (and still isn’t now), but she readily admits that her co-star and close friend Jennifer Aniston had a true appreciation for it.




During an appearance on the Fashion Neurosis podcast on October 22, Cox told host Bella Freud that she “didn’t love the ‘90s clothes” she wore on Friends. Although she had the chance to keep items from the set, Cox explained, “I don’t want to keep the same things. I get bored and I don’t like a lot of things. I don’t have a big closet… If I don’t wear it for a while, it’s gone.” However, Cox shared that Aniston — who played Rachel — not only kept her own outfits but also some of Monica’s iconic pieces.


“She took a lot of Monica’s dresses and will say, ‘Oh yeah, I used to wear this on Friends,’” Cox said. “It looks great on her. She has a great figure and she’s adorable. But I’m like, ‘Why would you take this floral little prairie dress from Friends?’ But she holds on to everything.” Aniston even brought that floral dress back into the spotlight in 2022, sharing it on social media. She posted two photos of Cox wearing the dress on Friends, writing, “Does the dress look familiar? Still got it!” and tagged Cox and the show.
